Alexander is very likely the one who was a "trader" in Wilmington, North Carolina, who bought land as follows: "15 May 1755. Maurice Moore of New Hanover County, Gentleman, & Ann, his wife, to Alexander McKay of the town of Wilmington (Trader). 100 lbs. proc. money. All that plantation containing 500 acres on the West side of the N.W. Branch of Cape Fear River, beginning at the mouth of Hammond's Creek..."
