[6080] History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway, FHL 941.49 H2m, v 1, p 259 states: "John Dunbar succeeded, and was served heir to his father in 1503. He is styled Sir, by Douglas, but when knighted we do not trace. He married Catherine, sister of Sir William Maclellan of Bombie, as instructed by Charter under the Great Seal, dated 28th March 1511. He is represented as having stood in high favour with King James IV. He fell at Flodden in 1513, and left issue...John...Janet...We are inclined, however, to believe that he had another son, Patrick.
