History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway FHL 941.49 H2m 1994 states that Patrick M'Kie married three times, and Margaret Stewart was his third wife, and mother of two children.

Book of McKee, p 233 states that Patrick McKe was burgess of Wigtoun, 1575

Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court: P 271 1591 "The quhilk day the customes of Monygolff within the Clauchane and parrochin thairof with the commodetie of the regratoris thairin is set for ane yeir to Patrik McKie of Larg for the payment of xx merkis money at Candilmes and Lambes be equall portiouns and Thomas Hall is become cawtionar theirfoir and he to releif him."

Charter 1574 - History of Galloway - Edinburgh; in Rough Sketch of M'Kie family 1911, he states: "He [Patrick M'Kee] married Margaret daughter of Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies, and Margaret daughter & heiress of Sir Patrick Dunbar of Clugston, as appears from a grant by him to her dated 2d May 1582, and confirmed 1st August 1595. Her tocher was 1000 merks."
