[10443] History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway, Vol 5, pp 275-277 states he was given a disposition of 1/4 of Newton 9 Nov 1664 by his father and then disinherited after 1668. He procured a charter in 1682 from the bishop of Candida Casa (Galloway), for his share, and in January 1698 made a disposition in favor of his youngest brother Alexander Brown in Blackcraig.
