In one of the writs of Coldingham, dated 1130, he is styled "Cospatricius Comes." The second earl is stated to have been also called Cospatrick, and to have succeeded in 1139."

Loughaghery Presbyterian Graveyard inscription G103: "Erected by Ann McKee of Drumlough in memory of his son John McKee who departed this life 21st January 1824 aged 12 years. Also hir husband William McKee who died 2d May 1837 aged 77 years. And his son William McKee who departed this life.....(buried)."
Ann was probably William's second wife and married him between 1812-1817.
