The folowing was furnished by Karen Adams: Shadrach/Shadrick Morrison "Shade" Anderson, born 4-Mar-1845 in Elkhorn Creek, Pike County, Kentucky; died 22-Sep-1910 in Clintwood, Dickenson County, Virginia. He married (1) Dicey Slone 3-Mar-1866 in at home of John W. Powell, Pike County, Kentucky (Source: marriage records, married by Daniel Robinson MG.); born abt. 1849 in Kentucky; died Aft. 1876. He married (2) Mary Elizabeth "Bettie/Betsy" Johnson 22-Aug-1876 in at home of bride, Pike County, Kentucky (Source: marriage records.); born 18-Oct-1849 in Pike County, Kentucky; died 19-Jun-1921. Notes for Shadrach/Shadrick Morrison "Shade" Anderson: He served in Virginia State Line and then in the Civil War on the Confederate side. Shade first enlisted 20-Dec-1862 in Buchanan County, Virginia and then on 12-Feb-1863 in Pike Co. Ky where he served in Co. C and Co D, 14th Ky Regiment. While home on furlough on 17-Feb-1865, he saw two or three Yankees coming toward his house. He started to run down through the botton when Ben Bentley shot him through the left arm. He managed to escape and came to Sandlick where he stayed with his half-brother, Charles Anderson, for about six months. When he returned to Elkhorn Creek, he married and lived on Marshalls Branch of the creek. In 1870 he was living at Robinson Creek, Pike County, Kentucky. In 1880 he was living in the Upper Elkhorn District of Pike County, Kentucky. In 1910 he was working as a janitor in the Clintwood high school.
