Note for: Isaac Funderburgh, 1763 - 21 OCT 1835
Isaac was born on Yadkin River, NC; taken to Wild Cat Creek, Lancaster County, SC at age of 9; and at age of 12 to Fairfield County, SC. When he was about 21, his parents moved over into Georgia, but he seems to have remained in Edgefield with his brother Anthony.
Isaac was a Captain in the Army in the Revolutionary War. He was the only known Funderburk officer in the War.
At about age 30 he married Sarah, probably his first cousin. 1790 Census Edgefield County shows him and wife with a family of five. 1800 Census Edgefield County---Isaac Funderburgh,1m. under 10, 1m. 10-16, 1m.26-45, 1f under 10, 1f. 26-45, (Older ones deceased?)
July 16,1799, Isaac purchased a Negro woman named Nancy from Simon Perry in the presence of Elijah Martin (his brother-in-law) and William Pike.
Isaac and his family moved from Edgefield County, SC to Clarke County, Georgia about 1805, and in 1817 moved on to Autauga County, Alabama where Isaac and Sarah died. In Sarah's will, 8.29.1837, she mentioned her daughters: Lucinda Foreman, Charity Oden, Elizabeth McCarty, and her son W.B. and his daughter Martha Celona Funderburgh. (Autauga Court House, 1.27.1840)
