Incidentally, it is interesting to note that on a tombstone now existing in the North Cemetery at Portsmouth, appears the inscription "Madame Abagail Peavey, venerable Mother of the Late Hon. George Boyd died September 8, 1800. Age 96." From this it is evident she was born in 1704, and evidently her second husband was a Peavey, who was presumably born about the same time.

Now I will follow down through my personal ancestral line. I have found no close records of the movements of Abel [2], but it is evident that he married the daughter of John Hudson of Newington in 1710. My reason for this statement is that John Hudson's will, dated July 5, 1717, ( the original copy of which is in the archives at Concord) mention his wife Mary Hudson, and the estate after her death goes to his grandson, Hudson [3] Peavey. If Hudson should die before 21, grandson Thomas [3] Peavey is the heir. If Thomas dies before 21, grandson Abel [3] Peavey is the heir. At the end of the will, John Hudson makes a notation as follows: "Hudson born 1711; Thomas born 1714; Abel born 1716."

In clearing up the property in 1741 the Concord records show that Abel [3] Peavey, Jr. and Thomas [3] Peavey quit claim to Hudson [3] Peavey land originally belonging to their grandfather, John Hudson. As Abel [3] Peavey signed his name "Junior", this proves that the first mentioned Abel [2] Peavey was his father, who evidently married John Hudson's daughter.

The Newington town records have an entry in 1717 that Abel [2] Peavey of Newington, married Mary Clough of Stratham. This, I assume to be a second marriage, his first wife having died. I am strengthened in this belief, because John Hudson and his wife evidently were taking
