Elinor, born in 1911 and died in 1911, Robert F. [8] Peavey, born in 1908
and Lawrence H.[8] Peavey, born in 1905. These were all born in Fall River,
though James F.[7] Peavey now operates a plumbing business in New Bedford,
and has given me much of this information. Lawrence H. [8] Peavey married
Helen E. Smith in 1925 and now lives in Milford, Massachusetts. They
have one son, Lawrence H. [9] Peavey, Jr., born in 1926.
*************** Laurence L, [ ] Peavey lives in Newburyport. William Emery of the Boston Transcript has his ancestry and except where noted has given it to me as follows: I have referred to Daniel [4] Peavey (Thomas [3] - Abel [2] - Edward [1]) on page 28. In the 1790 Census Daniel [4] is listed as having four sons under 16, and 5 females (probably a wife and four daughters). Was one of these sons, Abraham [5] Peavey, who is taxed in Rochester in 1795 to 1798, and were two others the Edward [5] Peavey and Jacob [5] Peavey mentioned on page 28? At all events he had a son Daniel [4] noted on page 28, and on the Farmington tax lists, Daniel Sr. [4] Peavey, Edward [ ] Peavey, Jacob [ ] Peavey and Daniel [5] Peavey, Jr. are all listed in the early 1800's (Farmington was set off from Rochester about 1798). Daniel Jr. [5] Peavey (Daniel [4] - Thomas [3] - Abel [2] - Edward [1]) was first taxed in Farmington about 1804. This suggests he was born about 1783. His marriage to Hannah Young in 1805 was mentioned on page 28, and Mr. Emery says George [6] Peavey, born in Farmington in 1823, was a son of Daniel [5] and Hannah Peavey. This was probably Daniel [5], although there is a bare possibility that Daniel [5], born about 1802 and first taxed in 1823, whose wife's name we do not know, was the father of George [6] Peavey. George [6] Peavey married Lucy M. Emery in 1845. They lived in Lowell, Haverhill and Newburyport, where he died in 1890. He made hand sewed shoes and was in the teaming business. During the Civil War he was in Company B - 35th Massachusetts Voluntary Infantry enlisting in 1862 and discharged in 1863 for |
