| John L. [5] Peavey (Anthony [4] - Thomas [3] -
Abel [2] - Edward [1]) is on the Farmington tax lists in 1814 and 1816.
The town records say he was ordained an evangelist in 1816. In 1818 he
was on a church committee for a Tuftonboro Church. The cemetery inscriptions
of Milan. New York say John L. [5] Peavey, minister, died, 1829 - age 37.
This would make him born 1792, which makes the tax record plausible.
Benjamin [5] Peavey ( Anthony [4] - Thomas [3] - Abel [2] - Edward [1]) was born, according to Farmington records, in 1804. Benjamin [5] Peavey married Olive R. Pinkham in 1824. Benjamin R. [5] Peavey married Lydia Boice in Farmington in 1826. The town records report these marriages. Evidently Lydia was his second wife. A son to Benjamin R. [5] and Lydia was born in 1827, named Edward Henry [6] Peavey, but died in 1833. In 1831 a son John Langdon [6] Peavey was born. Evidently Benjamin [5] named these boys for two of his brothers. A boy, no name given, was also born in 1837. Jane A. Peavey, a daughter, was born in 1839. The above is from the town records. It is interesting that in the Milan, New York Cemetery inscriptions above noted, it says "Edward Henry Peavey, son of Benjamin and Lydia, was born 1833 died 1839". This is probably another son, Edward H. [6] so named after the first child (Edward H.) died. Did Benjamin [5] visit Milan with his family in 1839, and the boy die awhile there? Benjamin R. [5] Peavey is mentioned in 1839 in
the Farmington records and 1848 he helped settle the estate of Anthony
[5] Peavey, his brother. In 1851 the probate records say he administered
the Charles F. [ ] Peavey estate. The town records say he died in 1877.
