In 1675 WILLIAM in the Great Swamp Fight at Narragansett Fort he was severely wounded by a musket ball which he carried for the rest of his life. In that desperate mid-winter encounter where both parties fought for their existence, nearly 1,000 Indians fell a sacrifice, and about 150 of the English were killed or wounded.
