1776: William Hall -- 1763 -1858
William was born in Newberry District South Carolina. He died in Miami County Ohio, and is buried in the Millcreek Cemetery (also known as Frederick Cemetery).
Hall was a teamster and fought in the battle of Cowpens, South Carolina in 1781.
William has a government issued veteran's tombstone.

1800 US Census records William In Newberry County, S.C. as head of house with two males under age 10, himself between 26 - 44 years, a daughter under 10 years and a wife 26 - 44.

Marmaduke Coate and wife Mary sells to William Hall -on a small branch of Bush River- original grant to Marmaduke Coate - adjoining, Thomas Parkins (not at all sure of that last name), plat certified for Henry Coate in 1794 - witness: Henry Coate 1806 - Marmaduke Coate purchase from William Hall and wife Susannah - small branch of Bush River Creek called Ready (Reed) Branch - refers to an old plantation, waggon road, Elijah Teague, to my old tract - part of a grant to Clement Davis, then to William Hall - another 1805 deed in this group refers to survey for Henry Coate - this deed is William Hall to Frederick Gray, adjoins Thomas Pearson - signed in 1805 -(looks like it was deeded back) (This is believed to be the Marmaduke Coate that came with James Coate from NC and is recorded that they came from NC to SC in the NC Quaker Records); (http://www.rootsquest.com/~coatsfar/coatsarchive/sctimeline.htm)

William is living in Butler Twnshp., Montgomery Co. per 1820 US Census (pg 107) and 1830 (pg. 252).

In 1843 William donated the land for Poke Church in Montgomery Co., OH.
