ZUCCARO / ZUCCHERO

Family Album

ZuccaroBrothers.jpg (46189 bytes)

This photo is one of my Grandfather Zuccaro and his two brothers. It was taken in either Alliance or Lisbon, Ohio, on the same day as the wedding photo of Anna and Giuseppe (1903).  Depicted (l to r) are: Giovanni (John) Zuccaro (1884-1962), Giuseppe (Joe) Zuccaro (1875-1950), and Sebastiano (Sebastian) Zuccaro (1876-1960).  Their only other sibling, sister Maria (Mary) Zuccaro (1879-1962) is missing from the photo since she and her husband, Salvatore Felecia, have not yet immigrated from Termini.

Zuccaro Lineage

giuseppe.jpg (47204 bytes) This photo is my paternal grandfather, Giuseppe (Joseph) Zuccaro, taken in 1903, shortly before he and his brothers changed the spelling of the family surname to "Zucchero."  The picture was taken in either Alliance or Lisbon, Ohio, and my grandfather would have been 28 years old at the time.  He had already established himself in his own produce business and was quite proud of his growing prosperity only five years after his immigration to the USA from Termini-Imerese, Sicily.
AnnaGiuseppe.jpg (37089 bytes)

This is a wedding photo of my paternal grandparents, Anna Pusateri Zuccaro (1882-1926) and Giuseppe Zuccaro (1875-1950).  They were married in Termini Imerese, Sicily, on November 8, 1902.  However, I have cause to believe that this picture was taken in either Alliance or Lisbon, Ohio, sometime in early 1903, after Joseph returned to the USA with his bride and her parents.

Pusateri Family Lineage

ZuccheroFamily.jpg (97062 bytes)

This is a 1913 family photo of the Joseph Zucchero family of Alliance, Ohio.  The parents, Joseph and Anna, were both born in Termini-Imerese, Sicily, but all of their children were born in Ohio, USA.  In the front are:  Jasper James Zucchero (b. 1907); Sebastian (Frank) Zucchero (b. 1912) on the lap of the father Joseph; Rose Zucchero (b. 1911); and Antonina (Lena) Zucchero (b. 1910).  Standing in the rear are: Peter Joseph Zucchero (b. 1904), my father;  and the mother Anna.  Two more children would be added to the family after this portrait was taken: Joseph Zucchero (b. 1915) and John F. Zucchero (b. 1919).

PietroAntonina.jpg (40477 bytes) The attached photo was taken in 1915 in Termini.  Depicted are one
set of my paternal great-grandparents:  Antonina Passafiume (1845-1935) and
Pietro Zuccaro (1845-1930).  They left Termini in 1922 to live the rest of
their lives in Alliance, Ohio.
