Subject: [ITA-SICILY-L] "ignoto" parents

Hi Merry,

Welcome to the list. I know you said you don't have much information on your BELFIORE line, but, in case you do later, I'm going to give you what I have on my BELFIORE line because I'm pretty much stuck.....  My gr. grandmother's name was Catarina BELFIORE. She was from Carlentini, Siracusa, Sicily, Italy. She was born 9/2/1892 and married Sebastiano CAMPISI 11/1/1911 in Omaha, NE. Her brother and her were the only ones from her immediate family to come to America. They ended up in the Midwest...She settled in Omaha, NE and her brother in Iowa, not too far from Omaha.  Their Father was Salvatore Belfiore who was born 12/16/1860 in Carlentini.  He married Antonia BARBERE 10/2/1885 in Carlentini. They both died in Italy.  His birth ctf states "ignoto" for parents, which means 'unknown'. I'm assuming he was left at an orphanage. So, for now, it looks like I'm at a dead end.  Maybe you will run across these names in your research....

Anybody else out there on the list have any suggustions on how to find the next generation back when the birth ctf states parents are unknown? I found his birth ctf attached to the 'matrimonial allegati' records. Any help would be appreciated!
