Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Greetings - New member
Hello all
I'm new to this list, but not new to lists in general...I'm on several others, under multiple e-mail accounts. I'm on the Arberesh list, the Tutti-Siciliani list and the COI list for genealogy, if anyone is wondering. :)
My name is Diana and I am half Sicilian (at least so near as I can tell; haven't quite found that Arberesh connection...); my mother's parents are first and second-generation Americans. This is fortunate for me, because I started my genealogy when I was comparatively young (24) and my grandparents are still alive. I've had incredible success with my research, a great percentage of which is attributed to the continued good health of my grandparents. :)
I'm also a member of the Sicilan Ancestry Ring maintained by Laura Johnson.
The names I'm currently researching (almost entirely from my maternal grandfather's family, with the exception of Grecco, Trovato and Capri) are posted below in my signature. I have scanned and uploaded most of the documents I have been fortunate enough to find to my website, (along with what few pictures I have), the address of which is also posted in my signature, if anyone has any pressing interest in seeing them. I make updates on it from time to time, but if you think you are related to someone that I don't have any documents uploaded for, let me know and I'll be happy to forward them to you even if I don't code the page right away. :)
I've not yet been to Sicily, though I hope to be going sometime before the end of next year.
I *have* been fortunate enough to make brief electronic contact with some people living in America that I'm almost CERTAIN are my cousins. Just haven't made the connection yet. Haven't been able to get with the cousins I know are in Sicily, but I may tell you my favourite story here eventually. :)

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Cardullo in Messina city
I have a Guiseppa Cardullo born 14 Jan 1885 in Messina, but I don't know WHERE in the province she was born. She married an Antonino Venuty who was born Feb 1869, also in Messina province, again, I don't know what city. They came to the US (Philadelphia) prior to the birth of their son Guiseppe in 1905, who we *think* was the eldest child, which would indicate that Antonino's father's name was Guiseppe.
Guiseppe Venuto married a Rosina Grecco, but Rosina's parents were from Catania.
There's an Arberesh list for those of Arberesh (Greek/Albanian) descent somewhere.
If you have the films for Messina city, could you look to see if you see a birth certificate for Guiseppa Cardullo?
More information on my family is at http://dwelborn.home.texas.net/hobbies/genealogy/index.html
Thanks!
