Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Ships-Italy late 1780's/ Santa Militella surname

Hi,

Has anyone come across any web sites listing ships (and passengers or crew?) that made stops in Sicily or any other Mediterranean island ports prior to coming to North America in the late 1700's (particularly 1780's). Was unable to find anything on the SHIPS list (some queries, no replies...).  Also, has anyone heard of a Sicilian surname either Santa Militella or Militella (not Militello that we know of)? Was unable to find any on Labo.net, and thought maybe someone might know something. I'm checking this one for a friend.

Thanks, would be grateful for any input,

Carla Venezia

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Sferrazza surname

Hi Kara,

Our uncle's/cousins' original surname is Sferrazza, originally from Montedoro, Sicily. Their ancestors emigrated to Buffalo, NY. Many Sferrazza emigres changed their surnames to Sperrazza, Sperazza, Sperazz, Sferazza, etc.

How much info do you have and/or what type of info are you looking for? I've done some research for them so have some info on the surname.
