Subject: [ITA-SICILY-L] Sanfedele from Catania
Anyone have Sanfedele in their family? Mine are from the city of Catania, or the outskirts, possibly Sant'Agata Li Battiati.
Best,

Dear Donna,
The surname site is great! There sure are a lot of us. I really appreciate the work you've done.
I hate to ask you this, since I'm sure it seems you can never be done with the site, but the next time you update, could you please add my website to the Locations List?
It is for Petralia Sottana, Palermo Province, Sicily.

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] New Name to Research - Tomaselli
Just yesterday, looking through the Calif. Death Index, I found the name Tomaselli as my paternal grandmother's mother's maiden name. I have never known this woman's maiden name, so now I something to start with. To my knowledge this person was Antonia A. Tomaselli, married Filippo Sanfedele. They were both most likely born and married in Catania province, Sicily, around 1855, in some town on the outskirts of the city of Catania, possibly Sant. Agata li Battiati. Both emigrated to the US around the turn of the century, however, family stories indicated that Filippo came first, and that his wife and children were on their own when they came to the US. I know there are Tomaselli researchers here, but this was not a name I paid any attention to. <g> If any Tomasellis or Tomaselli researchers have this name from Catania province, please contact me at

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Updated website - Petralia Sottana (PA)
Hello,
I have given my Petralia Sottana Genealogy site a facelift, have added new links, verified all the existing ones, and have also loaded scans of handwritten birth lists for the year 1885. I will be loading the 1886-1895 birth list in the coming weeks (50+ pages in all).
The site also has a new address.
The old address will still work as well.

Late 19th century household surname list/map of residences (160 heads of household) Researcher registry (guestbook)

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Looking for Velardi or Baiamonte in NY
Does anyone have friends/acquaintances by the surnames Velardi or Baiamonte in NY or who lived in Massapequa, NY, circa 1983? I met a gentleman in Petralia Soprana (PA) who has relatives here in the US by these names he's lost touch with. My friend's name is Natale Sabatino, and his Grandfather was a Velardi, and the grandfather's sister was Lucia (died 1982). The grandfather's niece is Vincenza. He would like to be in touch with them again. Please email me off list at mailto:jannab@earthlink.net
Thanks in advance,
