Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] SELVAGGIO family in Palermo

CIAO amici!!

I am looking for any others researching my Selvaggio line in Palermo. I am descended from Stefano Selvaggio, who was born 15 AUG 1886, possibly in Piana Di Greci (?). His parents were Tommaso Selvaggio and Maria Spitaleri (Selvaggio). Stefano married Giovannina Virzi in 1909, in Sicily. About 2 years later the family moved to the US. ANY SELVAGGIO line in Sicily might be helpful, as I have NO leads right now. THANK YOU for your help in advance!  I was always told as a child that Stefano's family originally came from Albania before Sicily. Does anyone know what was happening in Albania that made them emigrate? History is NOT my strong-suit... I am assuming from the family lore that it was possibly Tommaso or his parents that came from Albania.

Tracy :)

Hi Edward --

My Great grandfather, Stefano Selvaggio, had a brother named Gaetano Selvaggio. Stefano was born 1886, which is interesting since your Frank Paul was born 1899. Stefano settled in Cincinnati, OH. Were any of your Selvaggios in Cincinnati before Cleveland? Stefano married Giovannina Virzi in Palermo before immigrating in 1911ish to NY. Gaetano never immigrated, but stayed in Sicily. The name similarity is interesting, but I have Tomasso as Stefano's father. Is it remotely possible that your Gaetano is the brother of my

Tomasso?? The dates are appropriate, but we will need to tie this together better than that. Glad to know there's maybe a cousin looking for the same line!!!

Keep in touch --
