Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Modica family

Hi, I'm doing a family tree and it seems my maternal grand, great-grand, great-great grand, and great-great-great grandparents (that's as far as I've gotten with the help of The Family History Center) lived in Bronte, Catania.  My grandmother's (Nunziata Salanitri Lupo) mother (Josepha Salanitri) had two husbands, Nuntio Meli (whom she married in 1902) and Illuminato Modica (whom she married in 1913--and I found that bit of information on her baptismal ecclesiastical records!!!). Illuminato Modica had several children who immigrated to the New York area (my mother remembers seeing them at "town" dances when she was a teenager) and I would love to contact them or their children and find out more information, life in Bronte, etc.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Susanne

Subject: Re: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Searching for a surname...

Hi, everyone,

I'm fairly knew at this (computer and genealogy), but I've come across a problem and I need a few good experts to put me on the right track. I discovered through ecclesiastical records obtained from Family History Center, that my grandfather, Nunzio Lupo had a sister, Agatha (parents: Ignazio Lupo and Agatha Isola Lupo). Relatives have said she stayed in Italy with her husband and family while my grandfather, his two brothers, and later his mother, made their way to New York. I would love to add Agatha and her family to our family history, but I do not know her surname. What is my first step in researching her husband's name? All I have is her baptismal record (1876). To whom should I write in Italy for further information? Or, is it possible to do some further research from here?

Thank you so much for any help you may offer.

Susanne
