Diane,
I've been researching Perrella, Iannetta, Del Buono, Di Salvo and Di Gregorio mostly from Boiano, Campobasso, Molise, and Motta and Ugano from Laurenzana, Potenza, Basilicata until I receive my films on Sicily from the LDS.
In Sicily, I am researching Catalanello from Sambuca. I will also be researching Cusenza, Merlo, Geraldi, Margiotta, Buscemi, Abbene, Maggio, Montalbine and Lanzerone from mostly Sambuca, Santa Marguerita de Belice, Sciacca and Menfri.
Carol

Sherry,
It seems like I'll never get to Menfi. I finally got my first films from Sicily. I got the call last night that my Sambuca films were in, and I flew over this morning and was there 15 minutes after they opened. I was rewarded with 2 finds - my grandparents' marriage certificate and my grandfather's birth certificate - now I have 2 more surnames to add to the list from Sambuca, MERLO and CALIAGNO. The "Birth" film was in such poor condition, as the original documents had been water damaged, that I was lucky to retrieve anything.
Although it seems like things are going slowly, I have been rather fortunate.
I just started my research in November and I have found the four ships that brought my grandparents here and also the ships that brought 4 of my great grandparents. I've found the birth certificates for 3 of my grandparents, the marriage certificates for both sets of grandparents and the death certificates for 1 great grandfather and 1 great, great grandmother. Maybe I will get to Menfi after all.
Carol

Alan,
I think I mentioned this before, but perhaps it bears repeating - I had a great aunt, Anna Cusenza, who married a Giuseppe Buscemi from Menfi. I also had a sorority sister from Greenpoint whose maiden name was Liotta.
