... My ggrandfather Francesco Romeo married a Maria Tranchida. They came to America in 1908 from Palermo we think , since they lived in Campobello di Mazara Trapani. He was a groundskeeper for the Florio Winery in Marsala. According to Maria Tranchida's death certificate her parents names were Maria and Joseph Tranchida. Maria was born 1871 and died 1933 and is buried in PA. She had a sister Jean (Giovanna in Italian). I remember seeing a Giovanna Tranchida on one of the passenger lists coming in on the S.S. Palermo to St Louis Missouri if I'm not mistaken, could have been on the Cimorelli Ship list site.
Could there be some connection with our families? I have been searching for a birth place and have hit a dead end for about 2 years now. Any information you may have on the Tranchida family I would love to hear more.
Related surnames in my family are : LOMBARDO, BONO, CUSUMANO, PUCCIO.
Thanks, hope to hear from you soon,
Lori Sabatini

Hi Marie,
Great to hear from you, the Laurea Accardo in my family was born 1835 in Campobello di Mazara, she married Vito Bono 1852, Vito was born in 1824. They had a daughter Anna Bono who married Pietro Lombardo. Anna and Pietro had my grandfather, Rocco Lombardo. Anna died very young and Pietro came to America and settled in Bristol PA, some of his family members later came to America and some settled in NY. In Brooklyn at one time I had cousins with the surnames Romeo, Barbera, Novi, Lazerone. Many of them have passed on. Any of these names sound familiar. Other related surnames of the Accardo line are Passanante, Cusumano, Gentile, Di Giorgio, Larosa, Mangiaricina, Barbera, Messina, Moceri
Hope to hear from you soon,
Best regards,
Lori

Hi Brian,
I seen your listing, we must be related. I am related to the following surnames on your list:
BARBERA, BONO, CUSUMANO, MANGIARICINA, MENFI, CIACCIO (CASCIO)
I am a descendent of the Sebastiano Bono family from Campobello di Mazara, Trapani Sicily. I have this family branch dating back to 1650's. There is also a woman, you may have spoken with her, Phyllis Mulholland that is looking for info on the Accardi / Calcagno line. There is a gentleman in WA related to my Bono line.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Lori Sabatini of Bristol PA
I have many Bono's and Indelicato families that originated in Sicily that settled in my town.
