I have spoken with my grandmother who is fortunately still alive. She is not aware of any siblings of her grandfather Giacomo Cirrincione (b. 1859) coming to the USA. She was only 11 when he passed. He came to NY from Collesano, Palermo, Sicily and settled in Upstate NY in the city of Geneva, NY where he had 4 children with his wife Polina Palmeri (b. 1864) also from Collesano. Their children were:

Lucia "Lucy" (b. ?? ??? 1889; d. 25 Dec 1967)

Domenica "Mamie" (b. 17 Mar 1896; d. ?? May 1977)

Sansone "Samuel" (b. ?? ??? 1898; d. ?? ??? 1948)

Francesca "Frances" (b. 25 Oct 1899; d. 20 May 1970) - [My Gr. Grandmother]

Giacomo, Polina and all 4 children were born in Collesano, Palermo, Sicily from my preliminary records which I am actively researching.  Perhaps there is link that both of us have not traced back to yet. I am currently pursing my roots back to Sicily and will keep you abreast if a Gioachino Cirrincione appears through a sibling of my GG Grandfather Giacomo.

I have no Aiena's in my records also to this point in my research.  Misilmeri is very close to Collesano and I am sure there is a link somewhere going back in time.  However their were SAGLIMBENI's who settled in the SICILIAN neighborhood in Geneva, NY and own a liquor store to this day.

Continued luck in your search.

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] New member.

I joined in a few weeks ago and have stayed on the outside reading all the messages posted to get up to speed on the ITA-Sicily List protocols for communicating with other members. It has been enjoyable to see such an

active group helping members new and old. I have researched my family back to Italy specifically Sicily on my paternal side and am now ready to tackle researching passenger lists as well as the civil and church records of

I am fortunate to have known all of my grandparents and some GG grandparents also for many years and did a family history research paper in my college days where I interviewed all of them in depth. This provided me with the springboard for bringing together my family tree.  I wish that I had known all of the questions to ask then what I need to know now. I have many clues to get me going in Sicily and hope I can provide or

receive the tips of fellow listers.

Primarily my families were from the Madonie Park area of Palermo.

Specific localities in Sicily for the Surnames I am researching:

Originated from - Collesano, Palermo, Sicily, Italy:

Settled in - Manhattan (Catherine St. in Little Italy), Brooklyn (Ave. W - 300 Block), Geneva (Torrey Park), Jamestown and Falconer (Lester St. or Ave.), New York

(Augustine) and CATALANO (Cataline).

Originated from - San Michele di Ganzaria, Catania, Sicily, Italy:

Settled in - Manhattan (Catherine St.), Brooklyn (Ave. W - 300 Block), Bronx and Geneva, New York.

MANTEO and ARRA  *** (The MANTEO's were from the famous Sicilian Marionette performing

family. Some family members migrated to South America also)

Originated from - Catania, Catania, Sicily, Italy:

Settled in - Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Geneva, New York.

I thank you all in advance for any new clues and advice I receive and look forward to helping fellow listers find their roots.
