My father Anthony Montana, born May 13, 1901 in Alcamo was a son of Gaetano Montana born
1877of Alcamo, Trapani Province and Giuseppa Di Giovanni, born abt. 1880, of San Cipirello,
Palermo Province. Gaetano came to the US in 1902 and his wife and children followed in
1904. I do not know the names of either of my great-grandmothers.

My paternal grandparents came to New Orleans in 1903. There were 3 children, Maria age 3, Antonino (my father) age 2 and Giovanni age 1. Grandfather Montana was naturalized in 1915 and his minor children born in Sicily automatically became citizens at that time.
Hope this info is what you are asking.
Ciao, JoM

Hello to all,
I am happy to have found this list.
My step-grandfather was Costenzio (Gus) Lore from Corleone, Sicily. He lived in New Orleans, La. I do not know if he entered through the Port of New Orleans, or Ellis Island. My maternal grandmother, a widow, Josephine Giacona DiFranco was his second wife. When they married, they each had 4 children, and then 4 more were born to them. Gus' first wife was Maria Priola. The 1920 census has Gus listed as age 50 having come to America in 1900 at that time he had not been naturalized.
My maternal grandparents Josephine and Bartolo DiFranco were from Lercara Friddi. Josephine's mother was Conchetta Raia and Bartolo's mother was Rosalia Schrimenti. (sp)
I am researching the surnames of Montana, DiGiovanni from Alcamo, and DiFranco and Giacona from Lercara Friddi.
Ciao, Josephine Montana Mudge
