I also have uncles called Turridu for Salvatore. In Sicilian it has something to do with the word idu which means "him" in Sicilian. The Tur part comes from the end of Salvatore. My Grandmothers name is Sara. But much of the family called her Sarida.

Ida in Sicilian mean "her".
