Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Great News!!

Hi Everyone! I'd just like to tell you what happened today... The bad and the VERY good! On Jan. 30th I had 2 letters to go to the Comunes of Borgetto, Italy and Montelepre, Italy, (both in Sicily) that I was going to bring to the post office, because I wasn't sure of the postage amount.  My husband, not looking at where they were addressed to, mailed them with 33c stamps on them before I got the chance. Our post office said that I should get them back in a week for insufficient postage. They never arrived.  Then today, I went to our local LDS to view 3 tapes that I had ordered. My people were nowhere on these tapes.... this is the second time in a row that this has happened. I was pretty depressed coming home, and thought they couldn't have swam here! Well, on the way in, I took in the mail. There was a big fat white envelope on the bottom from Borgetto!!!! These wonderful people not only sent me my Grandfathers birth certificate, but his mother's and father's birth and death certificates, their marriage certificate, his sisters and brother's birth and death certificates, as well as any of their marriage certificates. A total of twenty-one of them came! All typed, and stamped with the official seal. I had used the Cimorelli.com form letter, and sent NO money yet as the letter tells them to let you know how much it will be.

There was no mention for any money in their cover letter. This sure made me feel better! I think I may send a thank you letter and some money anyway.  All in 2 weeks, imagine that! There may be hope yet!

Good Luck and keep diggin'.

Charlene McQuillen

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] ITA Look-up Please!

I was wondering if someone would do an ITA lookup for me? My local library doesn't have the books. My grandparents came to New York from Palermo in the early 1900s, and this is what I know:

Grandfather - Benedetto Agnello, born 6/21/1891, Borgetto, Sicily. I do not know the year or how old he was when he emigrated. He settled in NY City.

Grandmother - Giuseppa Filangeri, born 6/29/1895, Montelepre (I think), Sicily. She told me that she came to the US when she was 17, which would have been 1911 or 1912 depending on the month.

Please let me know if you find anything at all. Thank-You!

Sincerely,

Charlene McQuillen
