Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Too bad I just found this list!

Hi everyone:

As I indicate in the subject line, I wish I had found this list earlier inasmuch as we are leaving on Thursday (June 22) for a trip to Sicily and would have loved to have gotten a few more suggestions re genealogical research prior to leaving. We may have been of help to someone in this regard also. Even if we don't accomplish much toward our research, I know we will enjoy exploring the island as much as we did last year! This year we are going to Milazzo, Giardini Naxos, Siracusa, Piazza Armerina, and points in between. We plan to be in the home village of my husband's maternal grandparents for the annual festa di Madonna della Grazie in Alia, Palermo Province, and finally spend a night in Terrasini prior to returning home. I will do a search for recent messages and re-subscribe to the list when we return from our trip.

Subject: Re: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] relatives in Cefalu

Marie, there is a town named Quattrocchi on the island of Lipari. We did not go there when were on the island last month, but the guide books say that there is a spectacular view of Isole Vulcano from Quattrocchi. The Eolian Islands are breathtaking and I would love to return there! The Eolian Archaelogical Museum in Lipari is incredible. The treasures housed there go back to the 5th millennium BC. As you can see, I enjoyed my visit to the Eolian Islands immensely. We went there by hydrofoil ferry boat from Milazzo. Hope this is the Quattrocchi you are looking for.

Best regards,
