[{ITA-SICILY-L}] Re: New to the list
Hi all, My
name is Joni and I am new to this list, it was recommended to me by a friend. I
am on a several Italian related lists. I am from the San
Francisco Bay area,
but my Italian family settled in the Sacramento
area, by way of New Orleans.
The name that has me presently stumped is Antonio Cippo,
my g-grandfather on grandma's side. As near as I can find out he emigrated in
1884 when he was about 21, on the SS Jason in to New Orleans. The manifest only says Palermo as to where he is
from, however there are some things that make me look toward S. Cristina Gela or Perhaps Prizzi as his
place of birth. (Family oral history and some things in the
Family Search.) I would like to know if anyone else has requested
records from Prizzi, and if they know how cooperative
they are. I just returned from a very rewarding and wonderful trip to Italy to meet
my cousins and visit the village of my grandfather's birth. Everyone was just
great there, they couldn't do enough for me, feed me
enough or show me enough, I have a wonderful family in Piana.
.................... Others I am researching on Grandpa's side have proven to
be more fruitful....
