Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] New to list!

Hi! I'm new to the list - lurking for about two weeks or so and I thought it about time to introduce myself!

My name is Denise and my Grandfather's family (Seminar) are Sicilian. I began researching about a year and a half ago when my Mom passed away and I began feeling disconnected with the families. I have recently had a couple of breakthroughs with the research that have refueled my research desires.

>From a message board, I was introduced with a cousin from a branch of the family that was not close to my

branch. The family tree has grown since we began communicating in Sept. and have been able to add her

family and her Uncle's family to our list.  I also purchased my Great-Grandparents death certificates from Connecticut and found the names of my G-Great Grandparents! WOO HOO! I unfortunately also came across some problems, like my G-Grandfather's date of birth is listed as being 15 years younger than his head stone! And my G-Grandmother's is listed as 4 years younger! Another problem; the place of birth is listed Palermo, Italy.  Would that be Palermo the city or Palermo the province? No idea!

I have been trying to pinpoint their entry into America from Sicily and have narrowed it down to between 1896 and 1900. Arriving in New York is the assumption.

Here is my current list of names: SEMINARA, FERRARA, GENOVESE!

If anyone has any ideas or information that could help

- please let me know!
