Subject: [ITA-SICILY-L] cannuni, romano, bertino, luloroto surnames

Hello, everyone. I am researching the surname of Cannuni from Valdina, Province of Messina, Sicily; surname of Romano from Spadafora, Province of Messina, Sicily, and surnames Bertino and LoLuroto from the Province of Messina, I believe.

Any help would be appreciated.

Debra

Hi Jennifer,

Glad you found some good info. I have Romanos in my family tree from Sicily. I'm pretty sure they are from Spadafora in Messina, though.

Anyway, my ggrandmother, Giovanna (Jennie), was born in 1886 and emigrated to the US about 1907 and settled in NJ. I think some other members of her family (brothers) settled in the New York area. Jennie's parents were Andrea Romano and Rosa LoLuroto. Jennie's other siblings were Peter, who died in WWI, Paul, Samuel, Anthony, Angelo, Mary and Andrew. There may have been siblings but my grandparents couldn't recall the names. Any connection?
