My great grandmother was a Marchese. Her name was Maria Concetta Marchese.  She married Salvatore Troia. Her parents were jewelers in Sicily, but she was an only child. She did have a step sister that came to this country and settled in Chicago. They were from the area around Palermo. My great grandfather, her husband, was from Torretto.

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Family from Carini and Torretto Sicily

I am trying to find any family in Sicily. My great grandfather, Gaspare Terranova from Carini Sicily was the only member of his family that came to America that we know of. His wife was Rosina Alamia and had at least 2 sons when they left Carini. My grandfather, Antonio and his brother Salvatore.  They emigrated sometime in the 1890's. My Grandmother Maria Troia, came to this country from Torretto Sicily, with her parents, Salvatore Troia, and Maria Concetta Marchese in the early 1900's. At least 2 other of her sisters were also born in Torretto, Salvatrice and Beatrice. If anyone has any information from Sicily, I would love to hear from you.
