Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] SanFilippo's from Porticello/Sant Eila

Pat,

I've seen your posts on ITA-SICILY from time to time, and I was wondering about a connection. I'm researching my wife's family, the SanFilippos. My research shows Salvatore SANFILIPPO from Porticello, Palermo, Sicily, Italy b. August 5, 1884 d. Oct. 18, 1959 in Milwaukee, WI. Based on the 1910 & 1920 census he immigrated to Milwaukee, Wi in 1901 or 1902. Based on his death certificate, his parents were Francesco SANFILIPPO and Grazia SANFILIPPO.  His wife's name was Francesca SANFILIPPO b. August 29, 1895 in Porticello, Palermo, Sicily d. February 17, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI. Based on her death certificate, her parents were Carlo SANFILIPPO and Caterina SANFILIPPO. Based on the 1910 & 1920 census Francesca immigrated in 1910. Salvatore may have gone back to marry her but at this point it's just a theory.

Francesca's parents, Carlo SANFILIPPO b. 1859 and Caterina SANFILIPPO b. 1869 were married on September 20, 1885. Based on Carlo & Caterina's wedding records, Carlo's father and mother are: Pietro SanFilippo and Anna Crivello. Caterina's father and mother are: Francesco SanFilippo and Grazia Crivello.

I've been able to find birth records for two of Francesca's siblings. Giovanna b. Dec. 10, 1890 and Pietro b. August 10, 1894. Both were born in Porticello.

The only sibling of Salvatore's that I know about is his sister Rosalie SANFILIPPO who married Mario LOCOCO. They lived in/near San Jose, CA in the 1960's. Two of her son's (Albert & Andrew LOCOCO) are buried in plots here in Milwaukee owned by her brother Salvatore.

There are no records kept in Porticello it is too small. The records are kept in Santa Flavia for Porticello, Sant' Elia, and Santa Flavia. This means that I'm assuming Porticello based on what I've been told by my wife's aunt.

Does any of this connect with the SANFILIPPO's you have? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if this community is the correct one for you, I have a number of other births that I've jotted down for the LDS records.

Thanks,

Don Buck

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] SANFILIPPO, CRIVELLO, LOCOCO from Santa Flavia area, 1830-1910

I would like to inquire about these surnames (SANFILIPPO, CRIVELLO, LOCOCO) in the Santa Flavia area (Fondachello, Olivella, Porticello, Sant' Elia, Solanto and Solunto). All records for these frazioni (hamlets) are kept in Santa Flavia, Palermo, Sicily. The years that I have Italian records for start with 1859.

Below is the detail of what I have so far:

My research shows Salvatore SANFILIPPO from Porticello, Palermo, Sicily, Italy

Salvatore's wife's name was Francesca SANFILIPPO b.

Giovanna SANFILIPPO b. Dec. 10, 1890 and Pietro SANFILIPPO b. August 10, 1894. Both were born in Porticello.

The only sibling of Salvatore's that I know about is his sister Rosalie SANFILIPPO who married Mario LOCOCO. They were in the 1905 Wisconsin census in Milwaukee (3rd ward, where else?) and they lived in/near San Jose, CA in the 1960's. Two of her son's (Albert LOCOCO b.? d. 1938 & Andrew LOCOCO b.? d.1959) are buried in plots here in Milwaukee owned by her brother Salvatore SANFILIPPO.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
