Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] MENFI surnames
Hi all,
I'm new to the list (though not new to Italian genealogy.) Just thought I'd post up my surnames and see if there are any relates paesani here:

Alan,
How did I not see this before?!? Are you related to Ludovico Viviani ? I have a bio/portrait of him that I'm putting up on the site - Ludovico was a revolutionary in the war of 1848. He was way back in the queue, but I'll put him up faster if it's of interest to my ol' paesano buddy- :o)

Dear Listowner Alan,
My Giovinco connection is Rosa Giovinco, born in the 1750's, who married Pietro LiBasci (d. 8 January 1789). Pietro e Rosa had at least two sons:
Nicoḷ, who married Francesca Prizzi, and Paolo (b. 1779), who married Giuseppe La Sala.
I also have a Caterina Giovinco who married a different Pietro LiBasci and had a daughter Maria (1770-1840), wife of Pietro Pisciotta. Then there's also my possible ancestor Gaspare Mauceri (1750-1835), who was married to Liboria Giovinco. (children Melchiorre, Anna e Rosario). Unfortunately, I don't see how I can move back on my Giovinco line without going to S. Antonio Church, which we know won't be very helpful.

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] The Menfi Project
Hey Everybody,
This is Brian A. Van Sise, the humble webmaster of the Menfi Project (http://go.to/menfi ). As some of you may know, my site has been growing exponentially over the last few months, with added civil records, censuses, emigration lists, biographies, maps, military records, photographs and links. Within the next month, roughly 200 PAGES of new information will be added, all pertinent to the city and people of the area in and around Menfi, Sicily.
I had another idea, and thought that some of you out there in internet land might be interested. I thought that it might be interesting to add family photo albums to the site to represent some of the many families from Menfi that came to America. For an example, please visit the personal album I set up for my family at
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1147511&a=8428861 .
If anyone is interested, the process is incredibly easy (it only takes seconds), and I'll be glad to put up any and all pictures on my own space on personal point (which, happily, I just found out is infinite! :o) ) I'll also be happy to scan photographs if anyone out there wants to participate but doesn't have access to a scanner.
Anyway, if anyone out there is interested, please feel free to drop me an e-mail at watsmatau@aol.com .
Thanks for your time,
Brian A. Van Sise
P.S. Sorry about any of you getting this twice - I sent it out to multiple lists.

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] Bushwick Residents (or Menfi people)-HELP!
Hey all you smart, good-looking and intelligent people out there in cyberland, Thanks to Alan Hartman, the administrator on the Ita-Sicily list, I just got my hands on a photograph of the members of the Menfi Social Club (Bushwick, NY), taken March 4th, 1923. Only problem is, I only have a scant number of names for the people in it and, basically, would like more. You can find a scan of the photograph at:
http://www.geocities.com/agentakbar/menfisocialclub.jpg
Here's what I know: in the photograph are Luigi Cacioppo (first row, 4 from L), Luigi Prestia (right back corner), Gaetano DiGiovanna (first row, 2 from right), and a man who is either an uncle of Angela Safina DiGiovanna or of the Russo family (first row, far R) and the guy fourth from the right, first row looks very much like a Palminteri.
There's a fellow in the second row who looks A LOT like my grandfather (born 1916, so obviously not him: surnames: CAMPO, LIBASCI, MULE), and as such, a copy of this photograph will be shipped off to Italy soon with lots of hope. Now, if any of you fine and wonderful people can identify anyone else in this
photograph, there's a box of cannoli (or some other pastry) on it's way to you (and I'm being serious.) The more people you name, the more cannolis. Deal?
Help!

Subject: [{ITA-SICILY-L}] INFANTINO FAMILY- Caltabellotta / Brooklyn
Hi all (please accept my apologies if you receive this twice):
I'm searching for the family of Luigi Infantino, born circa 1890-1900 in Caltabellotta, Sicily. He came to America around 1922, and was later followed by his wife Giuseppina Libasci (born 1896 Menfi, AG) and her three oldest children aboard the Giuseppe Verdi in January 1923. I am looking for relatives of this couple or their descendents:
Nicoḷ (Nicky), born Sicily circa 1918.
Rosa (Rose), born December 27, 1919 in Menfi. Married name De (Di) Luciano.
Angela, born 1922 Sicily.
Isabella, Pietro (Peter), Maria (Mary) Infantino, all born on this side of the pond, in Bushwick, NY. Has anyone heard of these people?
