From the homes of my youth in California and Minnesota, I came to Baltimore in 1959 to live and work. I was employed at the Social Security Administration for 36 years and I retired in 1995. Now my wife Sue and I live on the banks of the Chester River on Kent Island, Md.

The Thompson genealogy begins with pioneer John Thomson. John emigrated from County Antrim, Northern Ireland around 1730 and died in Thompsontown, Juniata County, PA. in 1779. He had 3 wives and 13 children. JOHN THOMPSON GROUP SHEET Books were published in 1917 and 1994 on the Thompson genealogy. They are now out of print. 1The Thompson family is connected indirectly to the Esby, Hegstead, Johnson and Lindholt families: Erik Rasten was their brother-in-law. He had a daughter, Eline Rasten, who married Charles Thompson. They are my parents.William Thompson (1752-1813), son of John, was the web site's author's direct ancester, too. He was married to Jane Mitchell (1756-1813). They had 9 children.
