Hoyt M. Smith and Mary E. Nokes' marriage announcement, as it appeared in the Whittier Register on December 25, 1903, page 2, column 6.


At the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Nokes on west Philadelphia street, occurred a pretty wedding at six o'clock last evening, December 24th, in which their daughter, Mary E. Nokes, was united in marriage with Mr. Hoyt M. Smith.

Rev. Levi Mills, pastor of Friends church, performed the ceremony in a happy manner, in the presence of about twenty-five relatives and near friends.

Following the ceremony and the attendant good wishes abundantly expressed, an elegant dinner was served to the guests, attended with social zest, repartee and good cheer befitting the happy occasion.

The bride received numerous handsome presents, and the happy couple certainly command the good wishes of all in their wedded life.
