Jim Adams & Alta Haworth's Wedding Announcement, as it appeared on page 2, column 3 of the Whittier Register on May 5, 1901.

The third wedding of the week in Whittier occurred Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Haworth, when their daughter, Miss Alta M., was married to Mr. James R. Adams of Monte Vista, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Adams, Sr.

During the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. J. F. Washburn of Los Angeles, the happy couple stood in a pretty booth of foliage and white roses. The bride was tastefully gowned in white, and carried a bouquet of white carnations.

Then followed the congratulations of the company, after which refreshments of ice cream, cake, and other delicacies were served.

There was a large number of useful and beautiful presents.

Those present included, Wm. Blumfield, wife and son Alfred; Alfred Adams, Jr., wife and children; Alfred Adams, Sr., wife and daughter Lottie, all of Monte Vista; Rev. J. F. Washburn, wife and son; Frank Tench, wife and child; Mrs. Wackerbath and daughter, and Miss Annie Bond of Los Angeles; Jacob Haworth, wife, daughter, Miss Helen, and younger children: Dora Harper and children; John Fisher, wife and children, and L. A. Franklin.

Mr. and Mrs. Adams were given a reception yesterday by their friends at Monte Vista, and here they will take up their permanent residence after returning from a trip to Catalina. It is of an interesting fact that they have been more or less associated in evangelistic work under the auspices of the Holiness church, and that their marriage is a happy consummation of an acquaintance begun in the line of self sacrificing labor and devotion to duty.
