I Samuel Hughes of the Township of London Grove, County of Chester & State of Pennsylvania being advanced in age, but of sound disposing mind & memory, do therefore make the following as my last will and testament. It is my will that my beloved wife Lydia Hughes have the west end of my dwelling house that we now occupy, two rooms down stairs and three up stairs & free priviledge of the entry garret, cellar & to & from the pump of water, and the part of the garden we now occupy, and sufficient fire wood cut and delivered at the door for her use winter & summer suitable for the fireplace, and one horse kept for her use at all times she may want to use it, and I giver her all the furniture, beding, & utentials of every description that is in that part of the dwelling designated for her use for and during her natural life, and the some of one hundred dollars in money to be paid to her yearly and every year during her natural life, to be paid by my two sons Jesse and Israel in manner following Jesse to pay her forty dollars yearly and Israel sixty dollars yearly, the first payments to be made in one year after my decease - and one hundred dollars to be paid to her as soon as may be after my decease out of the rents accrued or such monies as I may have on hand, by my executor herinafter named. It is my will that all the furniture, beding and utentials of every description left to my widow during her life be after her decease, appraised and my daugter Sarah Pusey to have one hundred dollars worth of her choice at the appraisement, the remainder to be equally divided with her & all my other children or their lawful representatives. I give & bequeath to my son Ellis Hughes one equal dividing share of the goods left to his mother (after deducting the one hundred dollars worth given to Sarah Pusey) having heretofore given him his share of my estate. I give & bequeath to my son James Hughes nine hundred dollars. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Pusey eight hundred dollars. I give & bequeath unto my son Jesse Hughes his heirs & assigns forty eight acres of land be it more or less bounded by lands of William Allen, Thomas Hicks & Samuel Morris, survey'd to him off the north end of my firm & corners now set, he or his heirs paying yearly & every year the sum of forty dollars to my widow during her life and the sum of three hundred dollars in one year after my decease into my estate to assist in discharging the legacies. I give and bequeath unto my son Israel Hughes his heirs and assigns all the remainder of my real estate, including the woodlot lot of James Gawthrop bounded by lands of the heirs of Israel Jackson, Abraham Hoopes & Others, and the new line dividing of the tract bequeathed to Jesse Hughes, containing ninety acres of land more or less, he his heirs or assigns faithfully performing & fulfilling all the priviledges granted to his mother, and paying her yearly and every year sixty dollars, and in one year after my decease paying into my estate one thousand four hundred dollars to discharge the legacies which with the sum coming from Jesse is fully adequate thereto. And lastly I nominate constitute & appoint my son Israel Hughes executor to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former will or wills by me made and declaring this to be my last, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this fourteenth day of the fifth month Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred & thirty one
