my CLEVER / KLEBER family
My CLEVER line, long a mystery, began coming into focus, thanx to a previously unknown internet cousin . . . Larry A. Clever. Through Larry, I learned the father of my great-grandmother, Mary Eleanor Clever, was Uriah Matson "Rice" Clever, and her mother was Mary Eleanor Bowser. I have since learned that Uriah's parents were Henry Clever & Catherine Schreckengost and Henry's parent's were Henry Clever & Elizabeth Leasure . Henry's parents were the ill-fated Michael & Elisabetha "Ann" Kleber who were massacred 16 May 1757 by Native Americans.
Uriah and the latter Henry's families resided in Cowanshannock Township in Armstrong Co., Pennsylvania. The families had previously been in Westmoreland Co. and earlier in Bethel, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania.
