my MITCHELL family
According to the research of Robert T. Mitchell, my MITCHELL family came from a yet-to-be identified spot in England.
The family of five left England bound for Philadelphia. Both parents died before their vessel reached port. (This is an oft repeated genealogical tale, and so, is suspect.) Regardless, the three orphaned siblings,
Joseph, John, and Mary , began life anew in colonial Philadelphia circa 1740. My descent is from the eldest of the three, Joseph (b. 1725) who married Mary Knight (b. 1727).
A priority is to identify the English home of my branch of the
MITCHELL family, and to continue back from there.
