SAINT PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL



St. Patrick's Cathedral, Saint Patrick's Close, Dublin 8 which took about thirty years to construct was dedicated in 1254. A lady chapel was added in 1270. A fire in 1362 damaged the tower and part of the west nave. Repairs to the damage were completed in 1370. in 1537 the cathedral came into the hands of Cromwell's government, since which time it has belonged to the Church of Ireland. From 1666 until 1818 the lady chapel was used by the Hugenot community.
