SAINT MARY'S CHAPEL OF EASE

St. Mary's Chapel of Ease, Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7 is also known as the Black Church because of the colour of the calpstone from which it was built.  The church, designed by John Semple, was erected in 1830.  It has since been deconsecrated.  Popular legend has it that if a person runs twice around the outside of the church they will see the devil.
