Shiels, Sheils, Siadhail A Gaelic sept who were hereditary physicans in the north of Ireland, and may have originated in Inishowen in Donegal. Difficult to distinguish from the immmediatly preceeding surname. In 1890 the surname was principally found in Dublin, Donegal and Derry, and the estimated number of bearers was 2,510.
