Sean E. Quinn, was born in the townland of Clonglash, a few miles from Buncrana in the Inishowen Peninsula of County Donegal, and was reared in Santry on the Northside of Dublin.
Sean is a Lecturer in Law at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology, County Donegal.
His primary degree included History and he began to research his own ancestry and surname many years ago.
He believes in open and free access to genealogical records for all, and feel that the Internet will bring this about.
He has published a number of books in the area of Genealogy and Surnames. These include Trace Your Irish Ancestors (Second Edition 1996); An Introduction to Irish Ancestry (Second Edition 2000); Surnames in Ireland (2000); and The Surname Quinn (A History of the various Septs and Branches of the O'Cuinn) is forthcoming.
In addition he has published Statutes Revised on Commercial Law (1695-1913) and Criminal Law in Ireland (now in its Third Edition).
He has particular expertise on European Community Law, Pensions Law, and his teaching of Intellectual Property Law is leading to an interest in Electronic Commerce Law.
