Dennis Dorsey: It says that he resides in lot 5, 1st concession of
Executors: John Bulger of McKillop and William Shea of McKillop.
Bequests: to son James, the east half of the farm and some farm animals and equipment.
To his wife [unnamed] the other half.
Gives two cows to daughter, Martha.
After death of wife, son Michael receives wife's portion.
He signs the will with his mark.
Probate issued 5th of Feb. 1858 He died before 1861.
In her Majesty's Surrogate Court of the County of Huron Be it known that on the Eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine the last will and testament of Matthew Purcell late of the township of McKillop in the county of Huron and province of Ontario Farmer deceased who died on or about the twentieth day of January in year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine at the township of McKillop in the County of Huron and who at the time of death had a fixed abode at the township of McKillop. aforesaid was proved and registered in the said Surrogate Court a true copy of which said last will and testament is hereunder written and that the administration of all and singular the property of the deceased and in any way concerning his will was granted by the aforesaid Court to Thomas Purcell and James Purcell both of the township of McKillop in the County of Huron, Farmers, the executors named in the said will they having been first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same by paying the just debts of the deceased and the legacies contained in his will so far as they are thereunto bound by law and by distributing the residue (if any) of the property according to law and to exhibit under oath a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said property and to render a just and true account of their Executorship within eighteen months or sooner if thereunder required
This is the last will and testament of Mr Matthew Purcell of township of McKillop in the county of Huron. I a..... I hereby revoking all former wills or other testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. I give and devise to my son John Purcell the east half of lot number nine (9) in the second concession of the said township of McKillop containing fifty acres. I give and devise to my son Matthew Purcell the West half of lot number Eight 88) in the same township and concession containing fifty acres; but i direct that my said son Matthew is to take the same subject in the mortgage existing upon the same, he being hereby obliged to pay off the said mortgage and my personally is not to be liable therfor. I give and bequeath to my daughter Alice the sum of two hundred ($200.00) dollars; and to my daughter Bridget the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars; and to my daughter Bridget the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars. In lieu of dower I give dense and bequeath all the rest and residue of my property of whatsoever kind to my wife absolutely. I direct the said legacies to my daughters to be paid out of the proceeds of my personally which I direct my executors to sell and dispose of as soon as may be after my decease. And i nominate and appoint Thomas Purcell, my son, and James Purcell my nephew, to be the Executors of this my will. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand this seventeenth day of January A D 1899

Letters of Administration issued to Mary Ryan
In her Majesty's Surrogate Court of the County of Huron Be it known that on the fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand and eight hundred and sixty nine. Letters of Administration of all singular the personal estate and effects rights and credit of Michael Ryan late of the County of Huron and Province of Ontario Yeoman who died on or about the twenty sixth day of April One thousand eight hundred and sixty nine at the township of Stephen aforesaid and Intestate and had at the time of his death a fixed place of abode at the township of Stephen in the said county of Huron were granted by Her Majesty's Surrogate Court of the County of Huron to Mary Ryan of the township of Stephen, in the County of Huron the widow of the said intestate she have been first sworn faithfully to administer the same by paying his just debts and distributing the residue (if any) of his personal estate and effects according to the law and to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said personal estate and effects rights and credits and to render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law.

Soul & my beloved wife Johana Ryan, ---
I Bequeath to my Son Timothy Ryan my Land Estate which is now in his possession less one Acre and the ??? of a cow wet an dry yearly to be Reserved for my wife Johana Ryan and Son James Ryan during their lives or which ever lives the longer. This Said Acre to be my Son Timothy Ryans property after the above mentioned demise,
I will and Bequeath my personal property which consists of Horses, Waggons, Shigs (?) Cattle Sheep and pigs which is value for about $ 850 Dollars of which Sum I Bequeath to my Beloved wife Johana Ryan the Sum of
Eighty Dollars I also will and bequeath to my Son James Ryan the Sum of Seven Hundred Dollars also to my Daughter Ann Dorsey Ten Dollars and to my Daughter Catherine Malone 20 Dollars and to my Daughter Johana Curtin Ten Dollars and to my daughter Mary Mulroy Ten Dollars
This Said personal property being in my Son Timothy Ryans possession and Reserved for me to Dispose of Given under my hand and Seal this 10th day of November 1874

James Murphy of McKillop and John Malone [could be Molone] of Mckillop are petitioning for probate of the will. State that Timothy Ryan of the township of McKillop died May 1st, 1878, at his place of abode at McKillop.
