Could HENRY [Henry Alexander Breshears] and JOHN have gone to the land

CHARLES BRASHER who was buried on this same date and is, undoubtedly,
the same person [or heir in right of], with the 15.000 acres granted in
HARDIN CO., KY., his son most likely.Comment: This could explain the unidentified HENRY and JOHN in Christian
Co., Ky about 1806. The Henry in Christian County gave power of attorney
to HANS BLACK to take care of property back in Greenville SC. Hans Black
also witnessed the will of Thomas Brazier of Orange Co., NC., along with
Samuel PYLE. The Blacks and Pyles were in Cumberland Co., NC., also. The county of HARDIN TN was divided and McNairy was made in 1823. The John who wrote the letter to Henry Alexander Breshears saying he was moving from McNairy County needs to be looked at for possible descendancy from the CHARLES BRASHEAR who received the 15,000 acres there.

was affiliated with the John Stevens of the same area. The person who
appears to be William's father, William Bradshaw and mother Ann, were
referred to by both names viz: BRADSHAW and BRAZIER, in the early
Worcester MD County deeds. The original purchase being "BRADSHAWS

plots a "BARSHA CREEK", just up river from Bennetts Creek. {No date}.
Worth Ray indicated theses Monacacy settlers were of the Eastern Shore.
If so, then we wonder if the old timer that settled on the Monacacy
River may have been William Brazier of Worcester Co., MD. The William Brazier who sold land in Wash. County to James Garrett in 1804, may be a descendant. It is probable their residence remained in Worcester County MD until WILLIAM BRASHUR was selected Vestry of the parish in Prince George Co.,MD, about 1761?*******************************************************************

***Descendant of The Orphan of William & Elizabeth (Clayton) Breazier***
viz: William; Thomas; John & James Breazier of Gunpowder Hundred, Maryland.1786...WILLIAM (Jr.-Orphan?), JOHN and AQUILLA BRASHER, of NC were granted land in Greenville South Carolina. William received 240 acres adj Aquilla. In the Spartenburg Co., SC., court records are "Deeds", allocating
lands from William and Sarah [Cox?] BRASHEARS alias BRATCHER alias BRACHER [see deed [s] to Nathaniel WOOTON], of record on the deeds Index. (Bracher is the spelling the family used in Wiltshire Co., England)
William BRATCHER, Sarah BRATCHER and Benjamin BRATCHER are the first enties in the deeds index. The rest of the index is for the descendants of WILLIAM (Jr.) and MARY ELIZABETH (CLAYTON) BRESHEARS.1800...On the SC., US Census we find WILLIAM BRESHEARS born 1760 adj. HENRY BRESHEARS Born abt 1765. The same census shows a William BRESHEARS who was born abt 1740/1750, which would indicate a William Breshear SR. still
alive at that date.--- Well who is he, if Sarah's (COX), husband died 1789?
(This William is not a son of John SR., brother of Henry Brasher sons of John). The Court records show a transfer of land from a William, John, James, Laban and Elijah. There is a William and Sarah Horn from Iredell County NC, who had sons with the exact names of the grantors above.I believe the heirs were those appearing on this transfer of land and also the transfer in Warren Co., TN, who signed as William, John or James, Laban and Elijah, as they deeded Elizabeth Beshear land. This Elizabeth is probably the Elizabeth (Copper?) later in the care of Henry Breshears and after his death John & Mary (Berry) Breshears of Lawrenceburg, Lawrence, TN. This may be Elizabeth (Cooper) Brashier, wife of John Brashier, Henry Alexander Breshears grandmother ???

*** SOME THOUGHTS IN SORTING OUT THE BRASHEARS ***1768...The passenger lists for SC, list Henry BRADSHAW (Brasker) ; James BRADSHAW; WM BRADSHAW; Arthur BRADSHAW and JN BRADSHAW as removing to old Ninety Six District in 1768. (all known to go by a variation of Brasher).SC church records [ insert here] refer to William BRATCHER [alias BRACHER as relocated by the military to Old 96 Dist. SC bef 1768 from VA. This appears to be WILLIAM BRATCHEY [VA Colonial Militia - 1758], of Albemarle Co., taken from Henrico CO., VA. Others on Albemarle lists:Wm Besor; Wm WOODS; Geo BRECKENRIDGE; James ROBERTSON; Jn BIGGS; James WHITE.
1799...William BRATCHER alias BRAKER, appears as a pioneer in Grainger County Tennessee with 23 white people taxed in the poll. This is a large clan with him. This is undoubtedly the William Bratcher SR. from Greene County TN, prior to 1799, and of Spartenburg, old 96th Dist. SC, pre 1788. Or maybe he lived in Greene County TN, and only signed the land conveyances in Spartenburg SC.
1776- 1819...WM BRATCHER [Pension #S39223]: While residing in
Spartenburg District SC., enlisted on 1 Jun 1776 under Captain John Blassinggame, under Sumpter, and was in the seige of Charleston, the battle of Sullivan's Island where he was wounded in the right hand by bayonet, and in several sqirmishes - moved to TENNESSEE. ["South Carolina Patriots in the Am. Rev.", by Moss]1777...Bobbie Moss in his "SC Patriots in the Am. Rev." pg 93, gives military service for State MILITIA:
...WM BRACKER: Served in the militia under Col. Roebuck before and after the fall of Charleston. [SC. ref: A.A. 686; X3370]. This is probably the William Braker with the 23 white polls on the Tax list for Grainger Co.,
TN., 1799.
...WM BRACKET: Served under Col Roebuck's regiment before and after the fall of Charleston. [C.S.] WILLIAM BRACKLER...See BRAKER...The SC State Militia records, as seen above, gave this individual under a variety of spellings but is without a doubt, "WM BRATCHER" alias BRESHEAR. [There is no evidence that William and Ann Ray were ever in South Carolina so scratch them as being this William.]
1777...Bobbie Moss then gives, for Continental Line service: ...WM BRADSHAW, who enlisted in the third Reg. on 5 Jun 1777. [National Archives 853]. He also gives Peter BRADSHAW enlisting the same day and year with same National Archives 835. [These men are William and Peter Bratcher alias Bashaw from Fauquier Co. VA. - I think]
1777...Misc.- Brashears service in South Carolina: Samuel Brashier-the fifer, 27 Nov 1777 [N.A. 853], Isaiah Breacher 5th reg. [N.A. 853]; Middleton Breashear 3rd Reg. 6 Oct 1777. Taken prisoner Dec 1778. [N.A.853]; Michael Breshear; See Michael Bushear. James Brickin, [Brisher?], Charleston Militia under Capt. James Bentham and Col. Simons 1778. [S.C.H.& G., l111,14; By Moss]
1779-1780...WM BRATCHER served under Captain GOWEN, Col. WHITE and Gen.PICKENS and was Captain during 1779-80. [So. Car Ref: Dawson, Jonas, R2776}; {Hebee, Drewry, R4855 by Moss}. See Spartenburg Co., SC., divided from Pickens Dist. SC.
1788...WM BRATCHER spelled alias BRATCHER, BRACHER & BRADSHAW with in the deed, sold land to Nathaniel WOOTEN in Spartenburg Co., SC. Sarah also had a simular document, same date, transfering the same land and
signed it Sarah Bracher alias Bradshaw/Bratcher.1795...Wm BESHEAR, from Indenture dated 1795 in Spartenburg Co., SC land from Elijah STEVENS dated 1791, conveyed to William Beshears Jr. 1808.[The Stevens looking after their relatives-all with roots to Worcester Co., MD?]
1795...WM BESHEARS SR., made deposition that he saw Elijah STEVENS deed 300 acres to WM BESHEARS JR. [same Wm Beshear as above].
1800 - 1850... Spartenburg SC deeds index, documents the WM and Mary Clayton BRESHEARS land transfers to their children, including William Gowan BRESHEARS and Ithra BRESHEARS, which is the land on Mottlow Creek
in North Western Spartenburg Co., SC, which was originally granted to WM BRATCHER SR. adj. WM CLAYTON.1800...William and Henry BRESHEARS who appear on the US Census for 1800 are undoubtedly sons (or near relatives) of the older WM BRATCHER alias BRESHEAR -Braker-Bracker who also appears on the 1800 census as a WM BRESHEAR born abt 1755 [1740?], so he was still alive.
=============================================================================1784...Food for thought: On the tax lists for Fauquier Co., VA., there is a widow ELIZABETH Brazier. ELIJAH Brazier/Beshaw is still on the same lists in 1800. A WM BRASHEAR sic BRAZER and a John BEASOR, has been documented in that vicinity, 1740 [Fairfax Co]. Elijah W. who left records in Cumberland County NC, removed to Spartenburg SC, crossed Georgia and settled in the Lincoln Co., TN area. His heirs undoubtedly the ELIJAH BRAZIER
also seen in the Fauquier Co., VA indexes. He appears in the "Old Maury CO." TN records as ELIJAH BASHAW alias BRASHIER. This may be the same Elizabeth (COOPER) Breazier, who had land transfered to her in Warren Co., TN and seen variously as Breshear and Bratcher in the county records. Land conveyed, by WILLIAM; ELIJAH; J. and LABAN BRAZIER, [Clan from Surry Co., NC]-probable heirs of William descendant of James of Cumberland Co., NC.

Thomas (3) son of Thomas 1 and Thomas (2) of Chatham County, Terrell Creek-in care of Aquilla-either his son or William's Orphan. Also Thomas son of John, Aquilla's brother.
1788...Thomas then bought 500 acres in 96 dist, on Cripple Creek, waters of Reedy Creek, for 110 lbs down. This was acres received by James White [Whight] as a state grant from Gov. Guirard. James White was resident of Spartenburg. Thomas Brasher of Greenvile [Bk A pg 184, 18 Feb 1788]

1805...There is a HENRY and a THOMAS BRASHEAR named in the East Feliciana CT., records along with the descendants of Jesse and Elizabeth Prather Brashears. ["LWSF"]-are they another Thomas & Henry or the same in another place? This HENRY BRESHEAR (of Lawrencburg) is first found as HENRY BRACHER [1812-14] militia of Bedford or Bledsoe County. A probable heir of John Breshears SR (1). As the land grants for the Rev. War Veterans were made, [abt 1783], they were issued as the old Rev. ancestor happened to be spelling the name at the time of his service, either Continental Line {Federal} or Militia {State}, service. Henry married (1) Eleanor Flemming.
There have been several indicate that there may be an error in lineage here.
I have looked at Flemming lineages and the name Eleanor seems to be very prominate as a foremother. I have not found a connection that would qualify. The name Hardin is a name handed down in the Henry Alex. Breshears descendance. Until proff comes of this alternate lineage, I am leaving H.A.Breshears wife as Eleanor Hardin.
Henry married (2) Eleanor Hardin 1 daughter of Jesse Hardin and Sinnett about 1788/1789 in , , of NC. Eleanor was born 2 in 1768 in Guilford, North Carolina.

Aquilla was to young to be administerator of his father's will in 1790
of Greenville Co. SC. That Aquilla Sr. would have had to be Uncle
Aquilla who removed to Livingston Co. KY. HOWEVER he was probably the
adm of his brother Thomas's will Nov 1841, in Greenville Co. SC. It
appears all of the children in this family had removed from the state of
AL by the time Aquilla's will was administered, their being of lawful
age.Mr Peters mentioned JOHN BRASHER, the REV. War Vet of Shelby Co. AL. Who
served from NC, SC and AL. Hemthen speculates that some or all of the
misplaced Brashers in Sdhelby Co. might belong to him, viz: Thomas R.
Brasher; Elijah Brasher; Isaac Brasher; V. Brasher; Seborn Brasher;
Moses Brasher; Zedec Brasher; Andrew Jackson Brasher and perhaps James
age 63. At least some of these men have the same names as those found in Lincoln County TN - 1820.

The family of Shelby Co., Alabama was initially compiled by Will F.
Frank from notes recorded by the Honorable Joseph L. Peters who was born
22 Mar 1848 in Shelby Co., AL. He was married on 6 Dec 1886, at
Columbiana, AL to Ella Wilson. Her father John B. Wilson and Mrs Franks gr-father, Thomas F. Wilson were sons of Benjamin Wilson SR. Mr. Peters
law partener was Henry H. Wilson, brother of Ella Wilson. Mr. Peters
collected a great deal of Material looking to write a history of Shelby
County, most of which was burned, and he told Mr. Frank that he never
had the heart to again undertake the work. As he talked to friends in
his law office he made memorandums in a little book.Mr. Peters father married Louisa Jane Johnson, 3rd dau of William
Johnson born 24 Jul 1806 in Bledsoe Co., TN and wife Margaret. [Notes of
Mr. Peters and tombstones]. The Hon. Joseph L. Peters was thus
bro-in-law to SAMUEL BRASHER, son of Henry born 1771. The said Samuel
having first married Elizabeth Ann JOHNSON. The outline as given by Mr.
Peters for the family of Henry Brasher is listed on the lineage charts.
Many of these people are buried in the Johnson & Brasher Cemetery,
including Henry Brasher and his wife Eleanor. He not0s that Eleanor's
Father was probably Moses Johnson and his wife Mrs. Eleanor Johnson, who
were also buried in the Johnson Cemetery.Johnson. (Note: There were some inaccuracies in these notes due to much
of it being taken in note form as friends remembered; however it is a
valuable aid to researchers. Dorothy Elliott recompiled these records.
