These are my aunts and uncles.
George Edward Betsinger married Edith Fay Pratt on September 7, 1907 in Bremer County, Iowa. They lived their entire lifes in Bremer County. They farmed, on rented farms, thoughout Bremer County. Waverly is the county seat of Bremer County. It is bisected by the Cedar River, and is mostly flat land, with some gently rolling hills. This is BLACK soil, good farm land. George farmed most of his life with horses, even after tractors were becoming common. The boys were worked on the farm from a young age, and when older hired out to neighboring farms for wages. My grandmother and aunts had a huge garden and raised chickens. No one went hungry at their house!! My father tells of staying busy, working on the farm, and not needing other kids or things to have a good time. They played in nearby creeks, fished the river, and hunted for food, and maybe entertainment also!
George and Edith's children were:
Margaret Lena born March 25, 1909
