A Genealogical Compilation In Progress

On Thursday, January 17, the County of Macoupin was one hundred years old. Originally the territory from which Macoupin County was finally taken was a part of Greene County. The legislature which passed the act creating the County of Macoupin was in session at Vandalia, the state capital at that time. The act was signed by Governor Ninian Edwards, January 17, 1829.
