On January 1, 2001, Val L. GEMBERLING passed away peacefully in Tacoma, with his family by his side. Born on November 19, 1922, he was the son of Eugene and Hattie GEMBERLING of Tacoma. He was an Army landing craft operator during World War II, serving in New Guinea, New Britian and the Phillipines. After the war, he graduated from Stadium Hign and California Polytechnic Schools. He married Dorcas Jane PIERCY of Tacoma and worked for the Boeing company for 29 years. In the 1960's, he welded parts for the lunar rover and Boeing's prototype of the
SST.
He is survived by his son Ted GEMBERLING of Bloomington, Indiana; his daughter Susan HANSEN of Tacoma and her husband Charlie; three grandsons and numerous friends. His faithful dedication and love for both family and friedns created a durable bond of love and respect between them.

Services will be held at Lynn Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2001.
