The Mawsons

 John Mawson the son of David Mawson was born about 1816 in Idle. He married Maria Mellor in 1845 and then Ellen Ibbetson in 1855.

Maria Mellor the daughter of David Mellor and Mary Wright was christened 11th July 1819 in Idle and married John Mawson 12th May 1845 at St Wilfrids, Calverley.

In 1851 John a clothier aged 35 lived with his wife Maria and their children Isaac 14, a cotton twister, Sarah aged 12 and William 1. They lived in Simpson Green, Idle.

In 1881 John now 65 and a cloth manufacturer and Ellen 64 lived with his son William 31, also a cloth manufacturer at 1 Leyfleaks Road, Idle.

Isaac Mawson was born about 1837 and married Hannah Murgatroyd 1st April 1861 in  Calverley

In 1881 Isaac now 44 and a quarryman (stone) and Hannah 48 lived with their children Martha E 18 an unemployed domestic servant, Thomas A, 13, Annie,3 and William 10 months at 7 Highfield Road, Idle

In 1901 Isaac 64 and Hannah 62 lived with children Martha Ellen 38, Annie 23 and William 20 in Idle
