"There is a John McGuire who came here in 1854, bought the old George Cox
place. His wife was a sister to Mordica Yell. His wife died in 1857
and he died in 1866. They had a large family of children. One of the
girls married Dr. Long of Springfield. She lived about six months after
they were married when she died. And another one of the girls married
John McChristian and she died in two or three years. Long's first wife
and McChristian's wife were twins. Then there were Mary and Sarah and
Catherine and Retta and Nancy. The boys were Mordecai and John, Jack,
Thomas, Nealy and Archibald. Retta married first to Elisha Anglin, a son
of old man Elisha Anglin, and he died, and then she married Henry
Adams. I think the children are all dead now except Jack.".
