John Appelbe - added 4/2/01

James Appelbe from Queens NY I believe was son of Abraham Appelbe who was son of Joseph Appelbe and Rachel VanWert History of Rye,"Chronicals of Border town" has exact spelling. He was also in Sleepy Hollow Marriage records and Burying Ground. James moved to Pittsburg PA early 1800 with his wife Ellen Leylay, and established Glass Factory with brother or cousin Thomas. Could have been Loylist during Rev.

Researching the family line HARNES, HERNES, HEARNS, YARNES. Resided in Philipse Patent in the mid to late 1700's. Specific names are Thomas and his wife Deborah CAMPBELL, and their sons Josiah (born in Philipse Patent 1761), Gilbert, and Johnson (Johnston). They were United Empire Loyalists who settled in the Bay of Quinte area of Upper Canada after the American Revolution, around 1783. Any help would be appreciated.

Stephen Pierce - added 7/27/00

I am working on the Pearce family in MacKenzie because I think I am descended from them. I am descended from Westchester County Pearces who were loyalists.

I am pretty sure there is a least one loyalist in the MacKenzie Pearces.

I am quite convinced that the Joseph (James, William, Richard) Pearce who is #32 IS THE SAME PERSON as Joseph Perce "late of Philips Manor" whose Loyalist Claim is in Bruce Antliff's Loyalist Settlement 1783-1789 (P 78), who shows up on the Westchester Refugee lists and who died in New Brunswick in 1799, " Joseph Pierce, ae 53".

I am descended from William Pearce (abt 1764-1828) who received a land grant in Nova Scotia with his brother Henry Pearce in 1786. That's the first we know of William. His brother Henry (abt 1759-1820) is rather more documented. Henry was on the Nicholas and Jane from NYC to New Brunswick in 1783 and is seen on a few documents with the Westchester Refugees.

I am following up on my theory that they are sons of the William Pearce that is on the list of Estates confiscated in New York in the Revolution. I am guessing that this is the same man as the " Wm. Pierce of Crum Pond taken at N. Castle going to the enemy, " 30 July 1779, in the Clinton Papers #2457.

Now is that the William (James, William, Richard) Pearce who is #28 "res. Yorktown" in MacKenzie? That's what I am after right now. And if not then are they related to MacKenzie's Pearces at all.

Further I note that MacKenzie's William Pearce #28 is married to a Deborah Cock. That Deborah Cock has a cousin Jordan Cock who is probably the same Jordan Cock was a Loyalist to New Brunswick with a Zoar Cock, again in 1783.

Cynthia (Sine) Herman - ZINE family - added 2/13/00

I am looking for information regarding the Sine/Zyn families in Philipsburg Manor. The only information I have is that I am a descendant of Peter Sine( b.1763) listed on Philips Patent Lot #24 of 173 acres in the 1790 and 1800 He married Mary Hanyon (b. 1760) from Philipstown as well.

William ( B. Dec. 7, 1968 Westchester) Peters brother, was listed as living with him in 1802 (Page 219 of Putnam County Hist. Record). He married Sally Dossett of Cumberland Co. N.J (b. on Feb 28, 1787) on August 2, 1802 officated by Rev. Ebenezer Cole.

The family name can be found as Sine, Zyn, Syn, Tyn, and Sign in the Sleepy Hollow Dutch Reformed Church records of Tarrytown. The names Zyn/Sine are listed on page 806 of MacKenzies list but I have not seen the entries yet.

Peter and William emmigrated to Sidney Twp,Hastings County, Ontario, Canada about 1807 where they died. We have located approximately 2000 descendants from these 2 original settlers.

Any information regarding these two brothers would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for any general information on the Losee family of the Philipse Manor/Greenburgh/Yorktown area. Also I am specifically interested in the family of Daniel Losee (1762-1844), who married first Lavinia (maiden name unknown), and his son, Samuel (1786-1880), who married Hannah (maiden name unknown). According to Mackenzie, both men were descendants of Cornelius Losee (c1720-c1800) who was one of the first of his name to settle in the area. Thank you.

Researching Evre/Avery, particularly the line of Jan Evre and wife Mary who came to Philipsburg before April of 1721, and had sons Jan/John and Richard, whose births were recorded in Mamaroneck. I believe that Nehemiah Avery,Sr. also came from this line. Nehemiah, John and Richard, all born circa 1710-1715, are all taxed at Nine Partners. Researching as well the line of Edward, (records in Sleepy Hollow Church), and attempting to detemine the family relationship to the above. Any information or contact with other Avery researchers welcomed.
